Information That Stays on Your Device
The following information is stored locally on your device and never leaves your device:
- App preferences: Your settings such as touch indicator color, PiP shape, and other customization options are stored locally using standard iOS storage.
- Recordings: All video recordings are saved directly to your device's Camera Roll (Photos app). We do not upload, access, or store your recordings on any server.
- Streaming credentials: If you use the live streaming feature, your RTMP URLs and stream keys are stored locally on your device and transmitted directly to your chosen streaming platform (YouTube, Twitch, Facebook, or custom RTMP server).
Device Permissions
Demo Scope requests the following permissions to function:
- Camera: Required to show your face in the picture-in-picture overlay. Camera footage is only used for recording/streaming and is never transmitted to us.
- Microphone: Required to capture your voice narration during recording. Audio is only used for your recordings and is never transmitted to us.
- Photo Library (Save): Required to save your completed recordings to your Camera Roll.
- Screen Recording: Required to capture the screen content for your demo videos using iOS ReplayKit.
You can revoke any of these permissions at any time through your device's Settings app.
Face Data
Demo Scope uses your device's front-facing camera to display a picture-in-picture (PiP) video overlay during recording. This section explains exactly how face data is handled.
What Face Data Does the App Access?
Demo Scope accesses real-time video from your device's front-facing camera solely to display your face in a picture-in-picture overlay during recording. The camera feed is processed entirely on-device by iOS's native AVFoundation framework.
How Is Face Data Used?
Face data is used exclusively for one purpose: displaying a live camera preview in the picture-in-picture overlay while you record demo videos. The camera feed is:
- Displayed in real-time on your screen during recording
- Composited into your final recording using iOS ReplayKit (on-device only)
- Never analyzed, processed, or used for any other purpose
We do not perform facial recognition, facial analysis, face tracking, emotion detection, or any biometric processing on your camera feed.
Is Face Data Stored or Transmitted?
No. Face data is never stored or transmitted anywhere. The camera feed exists only in real-time memory during recording and is not saved separately from your final video recording. We do not upload, transmit, or send your face data to any server, cloud service, or third party. All processing occurs entirely on your device.
Third-Party Sharing
Your face data is never shared with any third parties. We do not share, sell, license, or transfer face data to anyone for any purpose. The camera feed never leaves your device except as part of a completed recording that you choose to save to your Camera Roll or stream to a platform you configure.
Data Retention
Face data is not retained. The camera feed exists only in temporary memory while recording is active. Once recording stops, the real-time camera data is immediately discarded. No face data is stored in any database, file, cache, or persistent storage by Demo Scope. The only record of your face is within completed video recordings that you choose to save to your own Camera Roll.
In-App Purchases
Demo Scope offers optional in-app purchases through Apple's App Store. These transactions are processed entirely by Apple, and we do not have access to your payment information. Apple's privacy policy governs how they handle your purchase data.
We use RevenueCat to manage subscription status. RevenueCat receives an anonymous app user ID to track your purchase status but does not receive any personal information. You can review RevenueCat's Privacy Policy for more details.
Live Streaming
If you use Demo Scope's live streaming feature, your video and audio are transmitted directly from your device to your chosen streaming platform (YouTube, Twitch, Facebook, or a custom RTMP server). This data goes directly to the platform you configure and does not pass through our servers.
Your streaming credentials (RTMP URL and stream key) are stored locally on your device and are never transmitted to us.
Children's Privacy
Demo Scope is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect any information from children. Since we don't collect data from any users, this includes children as well.
Changes to This Policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. If we make significant changes, we will notify you through the app or by other means. Your continued use of Demo Scope after changes are posted constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
